Overview
Paid communities give subscribers ongoing access to your content, discussions, and events. You set subscription tiers, moderate posts, and get paid on a recurring basis.
Before you start
- Creator account with branding and policies configured.
- Clear value proposition for why members subscribe monthly or annually.
Step 1
Create your community
Go to Communities in your dashboard and click to create a new community. Add name, slug, description, and cover image.
Your public URL will be kobocourse.com/your-username/community-slug.
Step 2
Set subscription tiers
Add one or more subscription tiers with price and duration (e.g. 30, 90, 180, or 360 days).
Enable free tiers if you want a lead-in level before paid upgrades.
Step 3
Organize with categories
Categories help members filter updates, media, events, and articles in the community home feed.
Step 4
Publish content for members
Post types include status updates, media (video/image/PDF), scheduled events, polls, and long-form articles.
Use paywalled posts to reserve premium content for paying tiers only.
Step 5
Add managers and policies
Invite managers to help moderate and maintain guidelines. Override refund or community policies per community from community settings if needed.
Step 6
Open subscriptions and promote
Turn on subscriptions when ready. Share your community URL on social and email. New members complete checkout via Stripe or Flutterwave depending on currency.
Tips & troubleshooting
- Pin a welcome post explaining how to get value in the first week.
- Use events for live sessions — they appear in the member calendar.
- Respect member notification preferences; excessive emails increase churn.
